Office pets lighten mood at Delaware County treasurer’s office

[Delaware County Treasurer Jon] Peterson learned about axolotl, also known as Mexican salamander, from Brittany Hollingsworth, a deputy treasurer in the office. Her 4-year-old son's specimen is named Maxine. It's image also is her screen saver at work.

Peterson was intrigued.

"I thought it would be team building and interesting to the public," said Peterson, who purchased the two at an exotic animals show. "When I found out they were endangered, that's what moved me."
