Canary

While eclipsed in popularity by the parrot, canaries have been kept as companions for hundreds of years and been bred into hundreds of breeds, each with its own unique traits! Canaries are known for their songs, but different birds vary greatly in voice and how much they choose to use it. Canaries are hearty birds, and can live 10-15 years with proper care. They can also be territorial and should be housed in their own cage. They will do well on pellets supplemented with fresh fruit and vegetable and a few seeds (which they will love). Make sure there is always fresh water available!
