Comet Goldfish

The comet goldfish is a hardy and extremely popular aquarium and pond fish, distinguishable from the common goldfish by its slightly smaller and thinner size and longer forked tail. While they are small when young, they can grow to be slightly longer than a foot, so a 55 gallon tank is recommended at a bare minimum. Comets (and all goldfish) are notorious for producing waste and are cool water fish, so care must be taken when choosing tankmates (this means no tropical fish). Comets are omnivores who aren't picky eaters; they will happily eat flakes, supplemented with bloodworms and brine shrimp (live or frozen), Daphnia, or tubifex worms. With proper care, your comet can live to be 15 years old.
