Neon Tetra

Neon Tetras are small (4cm long), brightly colored freshwater fish, that are very popular overall -- especially with beginning aquarists. Your tetra will thrive in a tank where shade and plants are provided, as well as places to hide. They are social, and non-aggressive, and should be kept with similar fish (not necessary other neon tetras). Avoid larger fish that may frighten, harass, or even eat your neon tetras. They are omnivores, and will eat most small flakes, and appreciate having their diet supplemented with freeze-dried bloodworms, brine shrimp, daphnia, micropellets, and tubifex. They can live up to ten years, though normal lifespan in an aquarium is about five.
