Toucan

The iconically-billed toucans is an unusual pet bird, but becoming more common thanks to breeders. They are playful and curious, and care must be taken that they don't pick up and swallow small, dangerous (or fatal!) objects in the home. Whether they are "cuddlebugs" or more aloof is entirely a matter of the individual toucan, though many owners consider them very loving. Your toucan should be housed in a very large cage, or better yet, an aviary. They will do well on a low-iron, pelleted diet, supplemented with fresh fruit and vegetables, and can live 20 or more years with proper care!
